When Jack came home from Charlies house on Tuesday evening, I knew that Charlie was a bad influence on Jack. Jack had told me that Charlie was a rule bender and that he had drawn a moustache on his sisters school picture. I was not to happy about Jack hanging out with Charlie. The next day, I let Jack invite his friends over for a water balloon fight thinking maybe I had misjudged Charlie. Shortly after they had arrived, I looked out the kitchen window and saw Charlie persuading Jack in to throwing a water balloon at our neighbor, Mike. I was furious when Jack did throw the water balloon at Mike. I wanted to yell at Jack to get inside but he already seemed guilty enough. But, if Jack did anything like that again, I would be calling Charlies parents. The next day was even worse, I was told by the school principle that Jack and Charlie had wrecked Leenas school project. So when Jack got home, I planned to punish him by not letting him talk to Charlie ever again. But when he walked in the door, he told me he had made it up to Leena and told Charlie he was "taking a break" from rule breaking. I knew I could not do that after what he said. I was really proud of him for giving a sincere apology.
